The knife mod, the big selling point for version 1.6, is embedded into the eXtreme+ code from original work done by Seven Sniff.

The knife replaces the handgun in the game. In the server I played on (the {DD}'s private, war server), there are now 3 weapon options you can carry in the game: A primary and a secondary weapon and now a third: a knife.

Not only can you throw the knife, you can stab players with it as the bash function is replaced with a knife stabbing motion.

Version 1.6 requires you to parachute into the theater of operation (only once at the beginning of play). The first few seconds into any new map are now much more tense as you try to dodge bullets being shot at you while you slowly waft back down to earth (isn't killing a parachutist on descent outlawed by the rules of war?).

While the knife is a long-awaited for option, its execution in v1.6 could use some polishing - especially in the art and sound department.

However, player interviews seem to suggest that the update is a resounding success.

Congrats Joker and all your colleagues at eXtremecod.com!
